Design Forum Finland promotes Finnish design. Its purpose is to reinforce the

Grafia
ry
Grafia ry (founded in 1933) is a national association of
graphic designers. Its objective is to reinforce the status of Finnish
graphic design in industrial and cultural sectors and to promote the
professional and cultural know-how of professionals of visual
communication. The members of Grafia are communications professionals:
graphic designers, designers of marketing communications and media
designers, illustrators, designers of book and magazine layout, teachers,
scholars and students.
Grafia engages in publicity and publishing,
exhibition and competition activities, and training. It monitors the
research and teaching of design and collaborates in their promotion with
organisations and schools in the field.

University of Art and Design Helsinki
The University of Art and
Design Helsinki (UIAH) is an international university of design,
audiovisual communication, art education and art. It is the largest
university in its field in Europe and one of the most respected in the
world. During its 130-year-plus history, UIAH has been a key contributor
to the success story of Finnish design. Today, it has a central role in
improving the cultural, economic and industrial competitiveness of
Finland. Its close collaboration with business promotes innovations and

Armi, an information centre for
architecture, building and design
The Armi project brings
together Finnish organisations in the fields of architecture, building and
design. It builds on Finland’s standing as a leading country in
architecture and design, the architectural policy programme Apoli and the
design policy programme Design 2005!

will be accessible and distinctive. It will display Finnish architecture,
building and design and related know-how and achievements.

National Council for Design
The National Council for Design is part of the Arts Council of Finland, which
operates under the Ministry of Education. It promotes creative artistic
work and awareness, and serves as an expert body. It also issues grants
for the purpose of promoting art. It monitors the progress of the design
policy programme Design 2005! and allocates special appropriations to
projects that come within the programme.

Finnish Association of Designers Ornamo
(founded in 1911) is the national central organisation of designers in
Finland. Its objective is the improvement of the aesthetic and functional
standards of our immediate surroundings. Members of its member
organisations work as designers, entrepreneurs, teachers and scholars in
the industry, textile, clothing and furniture design, interior design,
arts and crafts and art. Ornamo is a lobbyist for its members’ interests,
maintains a member register, promotes networking between its members and
their mutual collaboration, and acts as an expert body in Finland and
abroad.
Ornamo engages in publicity and publishing, exhibition and
competition activities and training, and monitors research and training in
the field by collaborating with schools, cultural and industrial
administration and other organisations.
